A Letter from the President
Dear JIYSC Family,

As your incoming Board president, I wanted to take this moment to introduce myself, as well as thank you for your past
support for the Club. 2008 has already been a year of milestones, and as we look towards the Fall season, soccer on
James Island is not just growing, its gaining regional recognition for our programming and accomplishments.
Before we begin another chapter in the history of our Club, I would be remiss for not acknowledging the work and
progress made by the outgoing Board. Their accomplishments were achieved while keeping the spirit and mission of
the James Island Youth Soccer Club at the forefront.

Over the past two years, great strides have been made to ensure soccer is available to every child on James Island
and the surrounding communities, and at the same time, a substantial capital improvement fund as been started.
What does this mean for families like yours? JIYSC is able to keep our fee structure in line to meet the needs of our
families, while offering coaching, training and field facilities unmatched in the Charleston area.
As the number of children and families at JIYSC continue to climb, our club is making improvements on and off the
field. JIYSC will open the Fall 2008 season using on-line registration from Demosphere, the leading provider of such
services to soccer organizations nationwide. In addition, this summer, weekly irrigation is being applied to the fields to
improve turf quality and conditions.

In other ways, our Club also advanced the level of play and training in 2008. Suarez Soccer School, the official
training partner of the Charleston Battery, will be returning this Fall after having an overwhelming response from kids,
parents and coaches in the Spring. Suarez will be expanding the scope of their training and coaching to include team
training for the U9 to U12 teams. Another new addition to JIYSC is Mr. Patrick Olalere, who will be directing our Select
Soccer program. Coach Olalere has been developing players in the Charleston area for years, and brings his teaching
and instruction to James Island for our U13 to U18 year old teams (boys and girls). From July 7th to the 11th, Coach
Olalere will be offering a Technical Training Camp at the Club.

While improvements and accomplishments strengthen the future of JIYSC, there is still no replacing the dedication and
commitment parents like you provide to the children, coaches and our soccer community. The results of your efforts
are already trickling down to the success our teams had in the Spring, as the U9 Luna Chicks (U9 girls coached by
Clinton Chamness) finished as State Cup Champions, while the U9 Gold (U9 boys coached by Norm Silverman) were
the Spring LYSL Champions. As the Fall season approaches, we will need coaches, team managers and team
sponsors, so please let us know if you have further interest in getting involved.

In closing, our thanks go out to you and your family for supporting the James Island Youth Soccer Club. Be sure to
visit our new website at www.jiysc.com, register for the Fall season, and have a safe and enjoyable summer.

Respectfully,

Chuck Dennis, Board President
