Micro Soccer Rules

  • U5 - 3 V 3 - The Ball: Size 3
  • U6 - 3 V 3 - The Ball: Size 3
  • U7- 4 V 4 - The Ball: Size 4
  • U8 - 4 V 4 - The Ball: Size 4

 

  • Playing time, each player shall play a minimum of 50% of the total playing time.
  • Teams and games may be coed.
  • Equipment: All players must wear shin guards under socks, a Club provided team T-shirt, and have a size 3 or 4 ball. Soft-cleated shoes are recommended. During cool weather, long sleeve shirts may be worn under team shirts and long pants instead of shorts.
  • The Referee: No Certified Referees are required. A Parent/Coach may be used. Their job is to keep the playing environment FUN, SAFE and focused on the child. Duties are the same as a Referee under the FIFA, Laws of The -Game: keep time, enforce the rules, stop and restart play. When you stop play for a foul or other reason, take the time to explain to the players WHY! During a game, at no time, may a Parent/Coach Referee be involved in the game by playing the ball.

 

Duration of the Game:
  • The game shall be divided into 4 equal quarters:
  • U5-8 minute quarters.
  • U6-8 minute quarters
  • U7-10 minute quarters
  • U8- 12 minute quarters

 

  • There shall be 2 minute breaks between quarters and a 5 minutes for a half-time break.
  • The Start of Play: Conform to FIFA with the following exception, an opponent must be 5 yards from the center mark while kick-off is in progress.
  • Ball in and out of Play: Conform to FIFA
  • Off-Side: There is no off-side in Micro soccer
  • Fouls and Misconduct: Conform to FIFA (intentional tripping, pushing, hitting, holding or ball handling) with the following exception, all fouls shall result in an indirect free kick with opponent 5 yards away. The referee/coach/parent must explain ALL infractions to the offending player.
  • Free Kicks: Conform to FIFA with the following exception, all free kicks will be indirect with opponent 5 yards away.
  • Penalty Kicks: There are no Penalty Kicks in Micro soccer.
  • Touch Line: (U7 & U8) Throw-in is  awarded when ball completely crosses sideline.
  • Touch Line: (U5 & U6) Ball is put back in play by kicking in from the line where it went out.
  • Goal Kick: Conform to FIFA with the following exception, goal kick may be taken anywhere within the goal box. -Opponents must be 10 yards away from the ball.
  • Corner Kick: Conform to FIFA with the following exception, opponents must be 5 yards away from the ball. Corner -Kicks are Indirect Free Kicks. only.
  • Substitutions: On free kick or throw in.
