JIYSC POLICY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS
Families of players, who wish to be considered for scholarships, may approach the Club Registrar, Treasurer or any Board member, in person, by phone, mail or email. For consideration, those individuals must agree to provide the JIYSC Board with the following information: A copy of an approval letter for Free or Reduced Price Meals from the school department or a copy of last year's Tax Return including all W2 forms. All information, provided to the Board, will remain in the strictest confidence. The Club Treasurer will maintain this information for the seasonal year only. Scholarships may be awarded based on income eligibility guidelines published yearly in the Federal Register and used for the School Meal Program under the U.S.D.A. A family eligible for Reduced Price Meals, under the above guidelines, will be awarded a scholarship for registration fees. These fees may be for Micro, Recreational or Classic players. Scholarships will cover the entire seasonal year; i.e. Fall and Spring. A family eligible to receive Free Meals, under the above guidelines, may be awarded a scholarship for registration fees and uniform costs. The uniform may be for Micro, Recreational or Classic and will include shirt(s), shorts and socks. Expenses not covered by scholarship to include, but are not limited to, soccer balls, shin pads, cleats, gear bags, water bottles, goalie shirts or gloves, tournament fees, coach/trainer fees, travel expenses and volunteer waivers. (All families of scholarship recipients must provide four hours of volunteer time, to the Club, per season played.) />The Club will notify all applicants of eligibility for or rejection of scholarship funds in writing. The JIYSC Board reserves the right to set up payment plans on a case by case situation for those individuals who are rejected. Players who reside within the "Honey Hill" area of James Island, or participate in Buddy Soccer, may receive scholarships, for registration fees, contingent upon available grant sources.
All scholarships are contingent upon availability of funds.
